Stunning Lake District wedding for Alicia and Dan at Melmerby Hall, Cumbria

Beautiful boho style wedding at Melmerby Hall in Cumbria for Alicia and Dan

Early Summer Wedding at Melmerby Hall Wedding Venue in Cumbria

It was a pleasure photographing Alicia and Dan’s wedding yesterday with all their family and friends in attendance. The venue they chose for their wedding was Melmerby Hall in Cumbria. Melmerby Hall is a place you always get excited when thinking of capturing a wedding there. The happy couple could not have picked a better venue for their wedding day and with the wonderful British weather playing a few sunny games with us during the day, it allowed for some dreamy and relaxed couples portraits outdoors in and around the stunning grounds of Melmerby Hall.

Alicia began her wedding day celebrations getting her hair and make up done with her girls at Melmerby Hall in the beautiful and grand rooms, those first few hours were the perfect way to start her story. When I arrived the air was filled with excitement but as soon as the ceremony began to draw closer the nerves starting to build. Dan and his boys also had time to prepare themselves for the day at Melmerby Hall before they began to welcome guests to St John the Baptist Church through the gardens of the Hall.

Family and friends present at St Johns and Melmerby Hall witnessed Alicia and Dan exchange vows in an emotional and personal ceremony. Alicia and Dan had planned to have a beautiful ceremony for their wedding within the rustic and historic St John’s Church. Alicia and Dan couldn’t have asked for anything more during their special day. As a wedding photographer in Cumbria I always have a fantastic time photographing weddings around this beautiful part of the country.

After the ceremony all of the newly weds wedding party enjoyed a relaxing time in the grounds of Melmerby Hall. There was a joyful vibe during the reception and all the moments I photographed were worth a thousand words, it was truly a special day, especially with the garden games provided keeping avid guests and the bridal party entertained.

It is a delight to photograph early summer weddings in and around Cumbria. We were so happy that the rain stayed away during the wedding and it was was really nice to see everyone embrace the day and enjoy the celebrations. It also made taking the happy couples photographs a joy on the day.

A short trip across the village where drinks and a stunning wedding breakfast awaited guests was next. Three spectacular speeches followed from Alicias father, Dan himself and best man. The room was filled with fun and laughter as the speeches commenced. As the sun was falling and the night was drawing in, I spent a few extra moments with Alicia and Dan before their evening entertainment started. A fantastic and vibrant set from Glass Caves started the evening before Deckheds continued into the early hours.

All in all I had an absolute blast at Alicia and Dan’s wedding. Thank you to all the amazing vendors involved in Alicia and Dans wedding. You really did allow the happy couple, their friends, family and me feel so welcome. I can’t wait to return soon!

Melmerby Hall, Exclusive Lake District Venue Hire

“There’s no prettier setting for a classic country wedding than Melmerby. This rose-gold sandstone 17C manor house is set in magnificent grounds with a walled garden, archery lawn and a valley of ancient trees leading down to a tributary of the River Eden.

If you’re having a church wedding, a secret path runs through the grounds to the pretty parish church of St John the Baptist with its restored bell tower and Estates woodland beyond. If you prefer a civic ceremony, hold it at home in your elegant chandeliered buttermilk drawing room with marble fireplace and tall windows overlooking long lawns.

Celebrate your wedding feast in the candlelit, claret dining hall with regal hearth. Catch up with with old friends by the fire in the panelled library. Prepare for the day and then relive it over breakfast in the sunlit orangerie by the cobbled courtyard and knot garden.”
